Schedule of Upcoming Courses

We bring Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI®) courses to the Four Corners area several times a year. Reflex integration is foundational to the higher level skills we work to help develop in our clients. Dr. Masgutova's method will transform your therapy practice. MNRI® classes are appropriate for OT, PT, SLP, massage therapists or other body workers, social workers, counselors or psychologists, teachers, parents/caregivers of family members who are challenged with motor, cognitive, social or emotional skill development.

MNRI® Trauma Recovery Workshop

The goal of this two day workshop is to explain the restorative role of a reflex pattern in stress and traumatic stress. It will discuss the definition of a reflex and its neurophysiological aspect in concern to human behavior and emotions in stress and traumatic stress. The concept of use of the neurosensorimotor reflex integration therapy modality for optimizing the brain function and recovery from Post-Traumatic Stress Experience (PTSE) and the PTS Disorder (PTSD) is a ‘missing link’ in the treatment of stress. The focus of this program is to provide information on the effects of stress, specifically post-trauma, and its consequences as expressed in Reflex Integration Disorder (RID). The program will also give specific instruction on the use of the MNRI® post-trauma procedure and exercises as an effective tool for treatment of children and adult survivors of traumatic events, especially those of natural and human made catastrophes, wars and violence.

The MNRI®: NeuroReflex Integration for Post-Trauma Recovery Program can be used with children and adults with unstable emotional responses and challenging behaviors as the result of post-trauma, with survivors of trauma exhibiting PTS memory deficits, affected sensory-motor and speech functions, disorientation in space and time, damaged social skills and communication, and comprehension difficulties. This program can be used as a stress/distress release program and is appropriate for use with individuals with such challenges, as: PTSE and PTSD, birth and post-birth traumas, emotional instability, hyperactivity (ADHD, ADD), addiction tendencies, behavioral instabilities, sensory processing disorders, disorders and challenges in learning, (dyslexia, dyscalculia and other), intellectual development problems, brain injuries, post-stroke pathologies, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, and a variety of other neuro-deficits.

MNRI Archetype Movement Integration

Archetype Movement Program techniques work to activate and engage archetype movements that, for various reasons, have remained dormant in the body. Archetype movements, less complex in nature than motor reflex patterns or schemes, are among the first reflexive movements to develop and emerge. Once engaged, archetype movements remain present and active in the body, allowing normal range and flexibility of motion while providing support, balance, and stability for the upper and lower, left and right, and front and back parts of the body.

Archetype motor movements also play a subordinate role in the maturation and integration of progressively more complex reflexes, including primary motor reflex patterns, motor reflex schemes, and the development of learned motor skills. If an archetype movement is not appropriately engaged, its impact can be great given the subordinate role it plays in maturation and development. We encourage parents and professionals interested in learning more about the MNRI Method and its various programs to attend this course early on, given the fundamental role it plays in overall development.

The MNRI Archetype Motor Movement course explores:

  • The general MNRI Method and the role played by the Archetype Motor Movement Program

  • The progression of motor movements beginning in utero and continuing through life

  • Archetype motor movements and how they relate to primary motor reflex patterns and important coordination systems

  • The role archetype motor movements play in establishing a foundation for motor, communication and cognitive development, and emotional and behavioral regulation

  • MNRI techniques designed to assess and facilitate the maturation and integration of archetype motor movements

  • How to create MNRI archetype maturation programs for individual clients

  • How to incorporate use of the MNRI Archetype Motor Movement course content into daily client and home practice

MNRI Reflex Integration and PTSD Recovery

MNRI Reflex Integration and PTSD Recovery course is based on the extensive experiences of Dr. Svetlana Masgutova working with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) while working with victims of the Chernobyl disaster (1986-1996), the Baku conflict (1990-1991), the earthquake in Armenia (1989-1999), the train crash in Ufa (1989), the Chechen War (1996-1999), conflicts in Israel (2001-2005) and other traumatic situations. Her work with PTSD became the foundation of the MNRI® Program, opening resources for survival and beyond, including her latest work with an MNRI team using the Reflex Integration PTSD Protocol with individuals who experienced trauma in Newtown USA (January-February, March-May 2013; 218 MNRI Sessions).

In the course, participants will be introduced to information about neurophysiological aspects of the reflex integration and its benefits for brain function and recovery from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The focus of this program is information on the effects of stress, specifically Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), and its consequences expressed as Reflex Integration Disorder. The program will also focus on the neurological, psychological and physical functioning of individuals and the use of MNRI® Integrating exercises as an effective tool for treatment of survivors of traumatic events.

This Program can be used with children and adults with such challenges, as: Autism, Asperger syndrome, hyperactivity (ADHD, ADD), a tendency for addictions, and other behavioral instabilities, selective mutism, emotional instability and disorders, post-traumatic stress and PTSD, speech delay and pathologies, sensory processing disorder, deep disorders and challenges in learning, (dyslexia, dyscalculia and other), intellectual development problems, bipolar, genetic disorders, brain injuries, post-stroke pathologies, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy and others.

MNRI Dysfunctional & Pathological Reflex Repatterning and Integration

The Dysfunctional & Pathological Reflex Re-Patterning and Integration course dives deeper into why motor reflex patterns sometimes become dysfunctional and how to determine if a deeper pathology exists. This knowledge helps establish priorities in developing individualized programs. Professionals, parents and caregivers are trained in how to make assessments using a two-level, sixteen point rating scale to measure reflex dysfunction. This scale is fundamental to assessing and applying MNRI techniques as it helps quantify reflex action and to reliably measure improvement over the course of MNRI treatment.

MNRI Upper Limbs Reflex & Manual Skill Integration

Upper limb reflexes begin development in the womb and are among the first reflexes to actively engage after birth, first to protect us from harm, and second (once security is ensured) to allow active exploration of the outside world.  As upper limb motor reflexes engage and mature, they form the foundation for the development of learned manual skills. Once basic manual skills become automatic, advanced skills begin to emerge and a child’s movement repertoire expands and advances to include gross motor skills, fine motor coordination, and the motor planning ability necessary to productively function in the world. Manual skills are not the only developmental abilities dependent upon upper limb reflex integration. The visual and auditory systems as well as verbal, written, and general communication related abilities all depend on adequate upper limb reflex integration. Fine motor coordination systems, including the hands-eyes, hands-auditory, and hands-articulation systems, link fine motor coordination to visual, auditory, and vocal decoding, allowing communication to develop from sounds, to words, to conversations, to reading, to writing, to comprehension and more. MNRI Upper Limb Reflex and Manual Skills techniques target reflexes and the underlying neuro-structural system to engage and improve manual, gross, or fine motor skill function and speech delays.  Many professionals subject to fatigue or upper limb injury often use the upper limb and manual skill techniques as a stress release program.
